Provisional Endorsement requirements: SPED 601- Educating Exceptional Students; SPED 804- Behavior Management; SPED 801- Legal/Professional Issues in Special Education; SPED 802- Theories of Exceptionalities; SPED 867- Practicum in SPED: Adaptive and an Educational Strategies Course in BD, or LD, or MR. The candidate must also have a deficiency plan to complete the approved program requirements and show verification of employment and the assignment to teach in the provisional endorsement area.

* Prior to beginning the ESOL Endorsement program, you will need to be admitted to the Fort Hays State University Graduate School as a degree-seeking or non-degree seeking student. In addition, you will need to file an ESOL Endorsement Program form with the department. If you wish to teach in Kansas, a valid Kansas teaching license is required for this program. If you are from outside Kansas, please check with the department regarding licensure in your state.
The ESOL teaching program is fully accredited by the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Kansas State Department of Education.
Up to 6 hours of transfer graduate coursework from another institution may be substituted, if approved by the Department of Special Education/ESOL.
